Snow blizzards, icicles and freezing rain. Fun for the imagination whilst sitting on plush, warm
theatre seats.

Our concert’s frosty journey will sleigh-ride families to winter palaces heard in Disney’s Frozen
film music, fly them over meringue looking landscapes with Walking In the Air from The
Snowman, before landing them on ice to enjoy The Skaters’ Waltz by Waldteufel.

But there will be no images to look at and no ice skates, just music to listen to so the children
can develop their own imaginative winter scenes. What they will get to see are all the
instruments of the orchestra: loud brass, large double bases and drums; along with seeing
dashing bows from the string players and hearing all the different tones from the many wind instruments.

They will frequently hear the percussionist create sleigh bells, chimes and clip-
clopping horse hooves.

Our guest conductor Janet Elston’s enthusiasm will really fizz and this is the first concert with
our new leader, professional violinist Hywel Webley.

Music will also include Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, Smetana’s Ma Vlast, Prokofiev’s Troika
and Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.

We’ll see you in your best Christmas jumpers at 3pm on Saturday 14th December in the Mylor
Building at Truro College.
